FlightSafety’s flight simulation systems are used to train and certify over 75,000 pilots every year on 135+ commercial and military aircraft. FlightSafety is the world leader in professional aviation training and simulation systems. This position is located at FlightSafety Visual Systems in St. Louis, Missouri, where we develop our high fidelity flight simulator software. 

FlightSafety is expanding its training environment to include modern, virtual reality displays. We are bringing our existing rendering capabilities to an immersive, virtual world. Your skills will help develop this new training solution for a growing market.


Required skills/experience:

  • Bachelors/Masters in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science in Computer Game Development, or other applicable technical field
  • C/C++/C# programming
  • Algorithm development/use
  • Object-oriented design
  • Contributions to Virtual/Augmented/Mixed Reality projects


Technical experience in any of the following areas is a plus:   

  • Virtual/Augmented/Mixed Reality application development
  • 3D modeling and animation
  • Game development
  • Industrial camera systems control
  • Desktop Aviation Simulation development (eg, X-Plane, Prepar3D)
  • Electronic Flight Information System (Avionics) development 
  • Strong geometry and mathematics capability – Euclidean and projective geometry, matrix algebra, vector math
  • Design patterns and/or multi-threading
  • Reading and using technical specifications
  • Lean/Agile Software Development


Create mixed reality software and hardware solutions to provide a realistic training environment that combines both a physical and virtual world. Design, develop, test and troubleshoot software across the development cycle for GUIs and runtime applications. Use disciplined software development methods, construction techniques, usability and interface skills, test methodologies and configuration management. Collaborate as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
