Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, education, skills, and experience as well as market demands. These factors impact the salary/wage offered.

Purpose of Position

The Facility Specialist is responsible for daily and on-going/preventative maintenance of the facility’s interior and exterior.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Perform minor building maintenance, interior and exterior
  • Perform wall repairs
  • Hang pictures, with guidance, in accordance with framing standards.
  • Check light fixtures and replace light bulbs and ballasts, when needed.
  • Mop wet spills, vacuum wet/dry spills and wax floors (if applicable).
  • Perform general maintenance on office furniture.
  • Research and submit requests for repair and/or purchase of maintenance and/or cleaning equipment.
  • Research facility maintenance supplies and work with Customer Service Supervisor to procure.
  • Act as coordinator during bid process for any outside providers of major repair or maintenance needs, including landscaping contractors and pest control.
  • Act as liaison with approved contractors/vendors in arranging repairs or other services, as approved.
  • Inspect facility grounds for debris-Organize and stock storerooms and breakrooms
  • Ensure common areas are neat and orderly
  • Keep break rooms, classrooms and kitchen areas tidy and organized
  • Keep refrigerators, disposals, icemakers, sinks and microwaves clean and in good working order.
  • Maintain restrooms throughout the day
  • Assist Supervisor with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) compliance to standards, documentation, etc. and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rules and guidelines
  • Submit cost-savings suggestions
  • Assist in planning “planting programâ€
  • Responsible for inspections (i.e. Fire Extinguishers) and record keeping of weekly and monthly HVAC System, as needed.
  • Conduct Preventive Maintenance and test of fire sprinkler system, if applicable.
  • Monitor any failures of fire sprinkler system and report malfunctions to sprinkler systems specialists
  • Maintain an approved list of contractors/vendors who can be called upon to help facilitate any needed repair
  • Maintain inventory list of basic shop tools, serial numbers where applicable, for asset control.
  • Maintain service records on all major equipment, such as HVAC.
  • Maintain current mechanical and electrical schematic drawings of the building.
  • Create and maintain routine maintenance checklists – weekly, monthly quarterly and annually, as applicable, to sustain the building.
  • Prepare and arrange seating arrangements for meetings and special presentations
  • Prioritize workflow on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
  • Unload supplies from delivery trucks, as directed.
  • Participate in the Quality Management System (QMS) activities at assigned site and adhere to the processes related to accomplishing the site's QMS goals.
  • Participate in Learning Center Safety Management System (SMS) activities

Minimum Education

  • High school diploma or Certificate of High School Equivalency (G.E.D. - demonstrated satisfactory performance in the General Educational Development Testing Program)

Minimum Experience

  • 2-3 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Fluency in English.

  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to interact with various levels of management in a professional manner.
  • Ability to adapt to changing schedules and high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals and mechanical and electrical schematics

Physical Demands and Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel or reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit and talk or hear. The employee may be required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Could be required to move items/boxes/crates/equipment etc. requiring the need for forklift or other mechanical lifting device(s). The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
