ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following duties are essential to the successful and satisfactory performance of this job. Other duties may be assigned.

FlightSafety Learning Centers provide training and support to Customer and Clients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Learning Center instructors may be scheduled at varying times and days to support the Customer needs.

NOTE: The term "Program" can refer to the training program in its development, implementation, or evaluation stages.

Training Standards – Program Activities: (Includes Compliance with regulations and guidelines, and Quality Management System (QMS) policies and procedures; plus Lesson Planning, Current Material and Set-up):

• Maintain Instructor qualification in accordance with NOTE on the last page of this Job Description.

• Maintain Instructor qualification in accordance with FlightSafety International’s Quality Maintenance Systems (QMS) processes and procedures. (Refer to QWI-62-02-01)

• Deliver training to FlightSafety International clients in accordance with FlightSafety International Instructor Performance Standards.

• Develop, utilize, maintain and revise ground school lesson plans and Pilot Training publications in accordance with FlightSafety International Instructor Performance Standards.

• Assist in completing and revising ground school syllabi and Expanded Instructor Action Guides (EIAGs)

Training Standards – Instructor Activities: (Includes Compliance with regulations and guidelines, and QMS policies and procedures)

• Maintain all ground training material (various media forms) in a current state at all times.

• Prepare classroom and set up training materials no later than 15 minutes prior to scheduled class start time.

• Ensure classroom equipment, flight training devices (FTDs) and scheduled simulators are ready for client training events.

• Integrate Crew Resource Management (CRM)/Human Factors training with technical (procedural) training.

• Utilize Customer's Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Checklists, and Minimum Equipment List (MEL) during training, when requested or required.

• Attend scheduled Instructor meetings.

Documentation/Reports Activities:

• Perform administrative duties relative to training such as preparing for the delivery of training, record keeping, monitoring customer progress, training development and maintenance of training programs.

• Report to the Director of Training (DOT) any Customer training problems (poor performance, Customer/Instructor conflicts, excessive tardiness, etc.).

Daily Responsibilities:

• Maintain FlightSafety International's commitment to Customer satisfaction while performing job duties.

• Interact within a cooperative environment through beneficial behavior, commitment to common goals, contribution to problem solving, communication of ideas and suggestions, and encouragement to other employees and departments.

• Accountable for the security of FlightSafety International’s materials, projects and business information regarding the methods and techniques used in the production and usage of FlightSafety International’s products.

• Accountable for the accuracy and completeness of assigned tasks.

• Adhere to a required work schedule, including prompt and regular attendance.

• Report, on a timely basis, any safety hazards observed in work area, equipment, and/or building to appropriate person(s) for correction.

• Participate in the Quality Management System (QMS) activities at assigned site and adhere to the processes related to accomplishing the site's QMS goals.

• Participate in Learning Center Safety Management Systems (SMS) activities including: supporting and promoting the safety culture, reporting all aviation safety-related issues via the feedback system, and adhering to the processes related to accomplishing SMS goals.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prioritize workflow on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.

Attend, facilitate and/or research training to increase skills applicable to job position and workplace issues.

Travel in conjunction with assigned duties, if required.

Other duties may be assigned by the Center Manager.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: (Minimum Requirements)

Associate's degree (A.A.) from a two-year college or technical school preferred, or three (3) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience; equivalency years experience substitution must be in related field.

Minimum of six (6) months experience in a teaching/training environment, especially where the material is designed for adult (over 18 years old) participants, preferred.

Prior to hiring, the applicant for Ground Instructor must possess one of the following qualifications:

• FAA Flight Instructor Certificate (CFI – Certified Flight Instructor) (currency, not required); or

Ground Instructor Certificate with an instrument rating and an advanced rating (AGII); or

• A rating equivalent to either of the above, issued by another country’s aviation authority; or

• Documented military Flight Instructor training and experience; or

 

Documented experience as a pilot instructor in a Part 142, and/or 135/ 121 Air Carrier operations, or another country’s aviation authority; or

• At least one (1) year’s experience as a FlightSafety Maintenance Instructor (This qualification is valid only for teaching Aircraft Systems modules, and requires a waiver from the Regional Director Training Operations.) Other modules may also be approved, on a case-by-case basis.

NOTE: An Instructor may be employed without the required certificates or ratings, but these must be obtained within six (6) months of employment or before training any clients.

After hiring, the Ground Instructor must complete the following:

a) In-Processing and Orientation, as documented in the Instructor Training File (ITF)

b) General and Administrative Training

c) Aircraft-Specific Ground Training

d) Instructional Devices Training

e) Professional Instructor Course (PIC) (see QWI 62-02-01;02)

f) Simulator Observation Training (1.5 hours minimum) GROUND ONLY INSTRUCTOR.

g) Ground School Observation Training

h) Practice instruction

i) Supervised Instruction

j) Instructor Certification/Designation

k) Academic Instructor Evaluation

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES OR REGISTRATIONS:

Valid Driver’s License, where applicable.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Fluency in English, through both verbal and written communications; able to speak, understand, read and write

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Excellent organizational skills

Ability to interact with various levels of management in a professional manner

Ability to adapt to changing schedules and high-pressure situations

A second language may be required in some Learning Centers to meet particular needs

EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

PC and/or compatible computer with printer

Various office equipment: FAX, Copier, and Multi-line Telephone

SOFTWARE KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

General knowledge of the following software: MS Office; MS Access, preferred
