Purpose of Position

The Program Manager - Visual Model Management:

  • Accountable for maintaining the company-wide approved visual model list; communicating changes to Training Centers and appropriate business units.
  • Develops and maintains processes for sustaining visual model compliance and enhancing the visual models to meet current regulatory and training needs.
  • Leads and manages Visual Model Analyst Team; Influences visual model design/development.

Tasks and Responsibilities

    • Maintain proficiency in knowledge of 14 CFR part 60 and other regulatory authority guidance with respect to visual model validation and sustainment.
    • Work as part of the Visual Model Team.  Conduct, Track, and Document validations of new, existing, and enhanced simulation visual models to ensure compliance with 14 CFR part 60 for Class II and Class III visual models; and other regulatory authority visual model requirements as required.
    • Validates selected Class I models within scope of 14 CFR part 60 Class II/III requirements with additional emphasis on Special Switch Operations (SMGCS), Enhanced Taxi Markings, RWSL/LAHSO, EFVS/SVS, and Helicopter Landing Area requirements (i.e., slope, pinnacle, NVG, confined area). 
      • Coordinates in a timely manner with FVS Database Support to correct Class I model errata as required due to FSTD initial and continuing qualification impact. 
    • Record visual model discrepancies and training restrictions; coordinate with Visual Systems engineers to affect fixes and enhancements to visual models.
    • Communicate visual model database changes and training restrictions to training centers.
    • Advise Regional Director Training Operations on visual model sustainment issues.

    Training Manager and Simulator Maintenance Training Activities:

    • As directed, provide training for Center Training Managers with respect to performing their duties as they relate to visual model sustainment.

    Coordination and Teamwork Activities:

    • Effectively schedule and facilitate team meetings to review policy/process changes and receive feedback from visual model analyst(s).
    • Participate in business unit meetings, working groups and projects, as assigned. 
    • Complete assigned tasks on/before target dates; Advise Team leaders of revised target dates when established target dates cannot be met. 
    • Advise Regional Director Training Operations on policy, process, and employee training pertaining to visual model sustainment activities. 
    • Coordinate with other business units on matters impacting visual model sustainment
    • External:
      • Represent FlightSafety International in industry meetings and conferences, as assigned.
      • Represent Regulatory Affairs and Training Operations during Customer meetings, as assigned. 

    Managerial Activities:

    • Manages and directs activities of the Visual Model Management Team and influences key stakeholders at FVS, Training Centers, and Operations.

    Quality Management Systems (QMS) Responsibilities:

    • Develop and refine new/existing QMS documentation related to visual model management.
      • Enter and track or review Document Change Requests related visual model management.
    • Participate in audit of QMS processes related to visual model management.
    • Participate in Operations Management Review meetings when requested.
    • As required, coordinate with the Center(s) Director of Centers QMS regarding the execution of Quality Management System (QMS) processes related to visual model management.

    Daily Responsibilities:

    • Adhere to FlightSafety International’s Flight Plan.

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in an aviation discipline or five (5) years' related aviation experience; or equivalent combination of education and aviation experience.

(Preferred Requirements)

  • Previous experience in flight simulation systems or visual modeling.

Minimum Experience

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Proficient knowledge of 14 CFR Part 60 requirements for Visual Model Validation, specifically requirements and limitations associated with Class I, Class II, and Class III visual models.
  • Proficient knowledge of National Simulation Program (NSP) FSTD Directives and Information Bulletins related to visual models.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to operate instructor operators’ station (IOS) applications for all versions of current visual systems in use.
  • Operate PC and/or compatible computer with printer.
  • Operate various peripheral computer equipment (e.g., external hard drives, etc.)
  • Various office equipment and software applications (e.g., Fax, Copier, MS Office, etc.)
