Purpose of Position
The Pricing Manager is a key position within the finance organization of FlightSafety Defense (a Berkshire Hathaway company). The Pricing Manager will be responsible for developing, analyzing, and managing cost and pricing strategies for government proposals for both the FlightSafety Defense and FlightSafety Simulation businesses. This role ensures compliance with all applicable company policies and procedures, regulations, including the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS). The Pricing Manager partners with business development, contracts, finance, and program management teams to develop competitive, compliant, and accurate pricing submissions.
Tasks and Responsibilities
The following duties are essential to the successful and satisfactory performance of this job. Other duties may be assigned.
- Directs, oversees, and participates in the preparation of all price proposals ensuring consistency, accuracy, and timeliness of all submissions while meeting the requirements of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR), Cost Accounting Standards (CAS) and FlightSafety’s disclosure statement(s).
- Leads the initiative to align pricing strategies between FlightSafety Defense and FlightSafety Simulation.
- Communicates with technical and operational personnel to ensure timely and accurate accumulation of data inputs and associated artifacts for proposal submission.
- Oversees the entry of pricing information into the pricing system and assists in the preparation of a complete and accurate pricing volume for submittal to FlightSafety’s various customers in accordance with government regulations.
- Ensures accuracy and completeness of all cost proposals prior to submission to the customer.
- Provides strategic pricing guidance to improve competitiveness while maintaining profitability.
- Supervises and mentors a team of Pricing Analysts, providing guidance on proposal development, cost modeling, and compliance with FAR/DFARS and company policies.
- Coordinates and supports audits/reviews with Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) and Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) on cost proposal, post award, estimating system, billing system audits, and others.
- Monitors changes in government acquisition policies and pricing trends to inform internal stakeholders.
- Supports periodic management reporting packages for use in long range financial planning and variance analyses.
- Assists with the development and validation of any Cost Estimating Relationships and/or Parametric Models
- Establishes and maintains estimating system policies and procedures in coordination with business development and others in the finance organization.
- Assists in maintaining accounting system standards and policies and provide direction regarding standards and policies to department personnel.
- Travel, as required.
Minimum Education
- Bachelor’s degree Accounting, Finance, Management or related field
Minimum Experience
- 8+ years of experience within the Financial Management field with an emphasis on government cost accounting and pricing
- Significant related experience at a major defense contractor, DCMA, or DCAA
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Ability to ontain a Federal Security Clearance
- Strong FAR, particularly Part 15 understanding
- Working knowledge of SAP, Deltek Costpoint, and/or similar financial ERPs
- Working knowledge of Cobra, ProPricer and/or similar software
- Working knowledge of U.S. Government contract accounting requirements, GAAP, DCMA, DCAA, CAS standards, etc.
- Proven ability to lead and develop a team of accounting professionals
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel and proficient with the full Microsoft Office suite
- Demonstrated ability to understand and meet the needs of internal and external customers

- Strong adaptability, communication, organization, and analytical skills
