Purpose of Position

The Manager, Training Programs has primary responsibility for overseeing personnel and courseware development and maintenance.  This includes ensuring that all training programs are consistently created and implemented across the enterprise in conjunction with corporate initiatives.   
This position has three tracks of responsibility to be assigned by the VP, Courseware: 

  • New Program Introduction – Responsible for overall management of the introduction of courseware in support of new programs to FlightSafety.  This includes acting as primary liaison with OEMs and other stakeholders to ensure budget, schedule and scope aspects are completed to expectations.
  • Courseware Development – Directs courseware development and maintenance initiatives for emerging aircraft, new courseware products, and sustaining current inventory to quality and conformity standards.  This includes supporting the annual review process and revision practices via detailed project plans and reporting.   
  • Simulation/Devices/Classroom Integration – Oversees creation and implementation of specifically designed training materials that target key safety topics.  This is accomplished in partnership with other stakeholders to ensure content is applicable and meets objectives.     

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive project plans ensuring clearly defined goals and objectives. Establish timelines, critical path items and key milestones in accordance with overall project plan.   
  • Communicate scope, priorities, timelines, and budget to project stakeholders and ensure all projects are managed within approved parameters. 
  • Assign roles and tasks to execute project plans ensuring appropriate utilization of assets and resources within approved budget.   
  • Evaluate technical requirements and ensure standardization of product in accordance with Fleetwide Strategy.   
  • Manage data transfers between OEM, regulators and FlightSafety, assuring security and export compliance protocols. 
  • Ensure project aligns with contract requirements, including nondisclosure terms, data licenses, data usage and general provisions. 
  • Oversee product quality assurance and user acceptance testing of courseware systems. 
  • Direct data collection methods for reporting metrics, feedback, and continuous improvement systems. 
  • Can be asked to provide direct oversight to Subject Matter Experts to include all Training Operations duties, as applicable.
  • Coordinate with Courseware Conformity Team for any Regulatory Approvals. 
  • Leadership/Relationship Management 
  • Implement and monitor team goals and action plans in support of company FlightPlan and core objectives.  
  • Collaborate with Human Resources on recruitment, performance, training, and development efforts for assigned personnel.   
  • Lead team efforts ensuring accountability for quality and safety engagement. 
  • Recommend strategies for Fleet alignment and performance improvements.  Work with regulatory authorities, Regulatory Affairs, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and approved vendors to support fleetwide strategy. 
  • Formulate solutions for courseware and program issues identified in client survey feedback and monitor feedback upon implementation of improvements.   
  • Manage risks and issues driving people and projects to goal achievement.    
  • Ensure consistent communications with Center Managers (CM) and Directors through defined meeting schedules and regular follow-up. 
  • Coordinate communications with other fleet DOPs for enterprise solutions and resource collaboration.

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) from a four-year college or university preferred

Minimum Experience

  • Seven (7) years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience can be substituted for the degree requirement. 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Project Management Software 
  • Knowledge of classroom, flight simulator and aircraft training techniques and procedures. 
  • Skills in budget development and management.   
  • Skills in technical writing and business case development. 
  • Skills in leadership and people management.   
  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to interact with all levels of management in a professional manner.  
  • Ability to adapt to changing schedules and high-pressure situations.  
  • Ability to read and interpret OEM and technical documents, contracts, and drawings.  
  • Ability to drive, obtain passport and occasionally travel to support fleetwide programs. 
  • Fluency in English, through both verbal and written communications; able to speak, understand, read, and write.

The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
