BASIC FUNCTION:

 

The Specialty and Enrichment Instructor (S&E Instructor) is responsible for the delivery of S&E courses via a variety of methodologies (LiveLearning, traditional, eLearning). The S&E Instructor measures the progress of Client(s), objectively, with the established curriculum and acts as a SME to research and support the development of S&E ground and simulator products by performing the following duties:

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following duties are essential to the successful and satisfactory performance of this job. Other duties may be

assigned.

 

FlightSafety Learning Centers provide training and support to Customer and Clients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Learning Center Instructors may be

scheduled at varying times and days to support the Customer needs.

 

  • Deliver training to FlightSafety International clients in accordance with FlightSafety International Instructor Performance Standards via a variety of methodologies (LiveLearning, traditional classroom, etc.).
  • Maintain Instructor qualification in accordance with NOTE on the last page of this  Job Description.
  • Maintain Instructor qualification in accordance with FlightSafety International’s Quality Management Systems (QMS) processes and procedures.
  • Develop, utilize, maintain and revise ground school courseware, simulator lesson
  • plans and training publications in accordance with FlightSafety International Instructor Performance Standards.
  • Assist in completing and revising ground school courseware, simulator lesson plans, presentations, client guides, examinations and Expanded Instructor ActionGuides (EIAGs).
  • Act as Lead subject matter expert (SME) for S&E courses.
  • Plan, design and incorporate strategies to encourage active learning, interaction, participation and collaboration in the online environment.
  • Maintain all S&E training material (electronic and various media forms) in a current
  • state at all times.
  • Prepare classroom and/or simulator for S&E courses and set up training materials no later than 30 minutes prior to scheduled class start time.
  • Ensure classroom equipment, flight training devices (FTDs) and scheduled simulators are ready for client training events.
  • Integrate Crew Resource Management (CRM)/Human Factors training with technical (procedural) training.
  • If applicable - Utilize Customer's Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Checklists, and Minimum Equipment List (MEL) during training, when requested or required.
  • Attend scheduled team meetings.
  • Assist in qualifying and maintaining qualifications for S&E Instructors

 

Documentation/Reports Activities:

  • Perform administrative duties relative to training such as preparing for the delivery of
  • training, record keeping, monitoring customer progress, training development and
  • maintenance of training programs.
  • Report to S&E PM or the S&E DOT any Customer training problems (poor performance, Customer/Instructor conflicts, excessive tardiness, etc.).
  • Report to S&E PM or the S&E DOT any Instructor training problems (poor performance, lack of skills, attitude, knowledge and ability).

 

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Maintain FlightSafety International's commitment to Customer satisfaction while performing job duties.
  • Interact within a cooperative environment through beneficial behavior, commitment International Instructor Performance Standards via a variety of methodologies (LiveLearning, traditional classroom, etc.) sugesstions and encouragement to other employees and departments.
  • Accountable for the security of FlightSafety International’s materials, projects and business information regarding the methods and techniques used in the production and usage of FlightSafety International’s products.
  • Accountable for the accuracy and completeness of assigned tasks.
  • Adhere to a required work schedule, including prompt and regular attendance.
  • Report, on a timely basis, any safety hazards observed in work area, equipment, and/or building to appropriate person(s) for correction.
  • Participate in the Quality Management System (QMS) activities at assigned site and adhere to the processes related to accomplishing the site's QMS goals.
  • Participate in Learning Center Safety Management Systems (SMS) activities including: supporting and promoting the safety culture, reporting all aviation safety related issues via the feedback system, and adhering to the processes related to accomplishing SMS goals.
  • Support FlightSafety International's and its subsidiaries' commitment to ethical behavior by basing our priorities on lawful and ethical conduct as we deal with coworkers, Customers, vendors and others in all of our operations
  • Work with the courseware development teams, as required, to provide needed SME and/or peer input.

 

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prioritize workflow on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
  • Attend, facilitate and/or research training to increase skills applicable to job position and workplace issues.
  • Maintain Valid international passport at all times
  • Travel internationally & domestically in conjunction with assigned duties, if required.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: (Minimum Requirements)

  • Associate's degree (A.A.) from a two-year college or technical school or three (3) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience; equivalency years’ experience substitution must be in related field
  • Minimum of six (6) months experience in a teaching/training environment, especially where the material is designed for adult (over 18 years old) participants, preferred.
  • Experience delivering online training, preferred.
  • Completion of training as an internal instructor evaluator within 6 months of hire.
  • Minimum of one year experience as a FlightSafety QMS auditor or equivalent, preferred.
  • Prior experience as a ground school instructor, conducting training by means of scenario-based style teaching method.
  • Minimum of one year experience as a FlightSafety Simulator Instructor, preferred.
  • Experience researching, developing, and acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for a minimum of two FlightSafety courses, preferred.
  • Minimum of one year experience as an International Procedure and/or Crew Resource Management ground school instructor, preferred.
  • Technical skills to support traditional and distance learning delivery methodologies.
  • Prior experience in international operations in the following region but not limited to: Atlantic, Pacific, South America, Asia, etc.
  • Prior experience in multi crew environment with part 135, 121, or equivalent
  • Experience with the FAA, JAA, EASA regulations, operations and requirements

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Fluency in English, through both verbal and written communications; able to speak, understand, read and write
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Positive attitude toward S&E products, new delivery methodologies and the ability to implement these in a timely manner.
  • Ability to interact with various levels of management in a professional manner
  • Ability to adapt to changing schedules and high-pressure situations
  • Ability to use strategies and techniques that actively engage Clients in the online learning process.
  • Ability to research and improve his/her knowledge of a variety of S&E products and delivery methodology.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally
  • Ability to conduct and research of variety of aviation products and provide SME support to development team.
  • Long term commitment to the growth and improvement of the S&E products and methodologies.
  • A second language may be required in some Learning Centers to meet particular needs
  • Results oriented with a proven ability to handle multiple tasks while meeting deadlines
  • Ability to make oral group presentation to provide information or explain procedures, etc. via traditional and distance learning delivery methodologies
  • Ability in working as a part of a team and collaboration with teammates
  • Ability in speaking with person of various social, cultural, economic and education background
  • Ability in working independently and following through on assignments with minimal direction

 

EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • PC and/or compatible computer with printer
  • Various office equipment: FAX, Copier, and Multi-line Telephone

 

SOFTWARE KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • WebEx experience preferred
  • General knowledge of the following software: MS Office; MS Access, preferred
  • Other software programs may be required, as needed.
