Purpose of Position
The Citrix & Systems Engineer is responsible for implementing and maintaining our enterprise virtual infrastructure environment. This role combines specialized Citrix administration with comprehensive systems engineering, focusing on VMware ESXi infrastructure and enterprise systems architecture.
Tasks and Responsibilities
The engineer will co-manage our Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops environment while overseeing VMware ESXi infrastructure operations. Key activities include working under the principal architects on design, build and high-availability solutions, performing capacity planning, developing automation workflows, and testing disaster recovery initiatives. The position involves managing virtual desktop infrastructure, maintaining system performance, and ensuring seamless integration between Citrix and VMware environments.
Core responsibilities include managing Citrix components such as StoreFront, Delivery Controllers, Cloud Connectors, and Virtual Delivery Agents (VDAs). The engineer will optimize Machine Creation Services (MCS) for image management, configure Workspace Environment Management (WEM) policies, and maintain Application solutions. Additionally, they will manage Profile Management with FSLogiX, establish HDX policies for optimal user experience, and integrate authentication solutions including SAML and multi-factor authentication.
Minimum Education
Associate's degree or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree; Bachelor's degree preferred
Minimum Experience
8+ years of professional experience in software administration with Microsoft platforms (i.e., Azure, O365, on-prem stacks, SaaS, ServiceNow, CAD, SharePoint, Documentum, or PLM)
Equivalent education combined with certifications could be substituted for the above professional experience
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
The role requires expertise in Citrix configuration, SSL certificates management, and implementing secure remote access solutions. The engineer will monitor and optimize End User Experience Monitoring (EUEM) metrics, manage license servers, and ensure proper load balancing across delivery groups.
This role requires partnering with cross-functional teams to optimize system performance, implement security measures, and provide escalated support for complex technical issues. The engineer will lead projects to improve infrastructure reliability, scalability, and efficiency while maintaining documentation and standard operating procedures for all managed systems.
