Purpose of Position
The Sr. Business Relationship Manager role aligns strategic goals and objectives with decisions regarding products and services; capabilities; and key business and IT initiatives in collaboration with specific business leaders. Develop specific deliverables, views and viewpoints and draw from disciplines such as strategy development, business analysis and process management. The primary focus is the business operations / process and business analysis frameworks and related networks that support the goals of the business unit as well as ensuring priority and business value is understood.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Serve as the account owner for business leaders and coach them on how to articulate their function’s needs and requirements that will advance business performance
- Partner with business leadership and other BRMs to plan new joint initiatives, evaluate proposals, and determine how they fit into business capability roadmaps and priorities
- Assist the Director, Business Relationship Manager and the Manager, IT Business Relationship Manager with team process, artifacts and coaching BRM’s as required
- Think strategically by identifying business function opportunities and the best-suited position for the function’s adoption within the business partner organization
- Oversee the business objectives of key initiatives, working as a liaison to business leaders, ensuring successful change management and adoption of new solutions
- Champion awareness and influence perception of IT with the business to facilitate better partnership and value harvesting
- Drive and facilitate the right discussions with business leaders to identify business capabilities in relation to current and future business objectives
- Partner with stakeholders and enterprise architecture to develop and maintain multiyear technology roadmaps
- May lead a Business Analyst who would be experts in specific business areas
- Works closely with project managers to ensure initiatives are meeting the vision of the business leader
- Work with business leaders to determine priority of enhancements to current technologies that are not considered projects and ensure the appropriate IT Team understands and delivers in the correct priority
- Lead and manage a project team
- Develop and execute a resource plan, staff the project team, track progress of tasks, manage the budget, scope and schedule
- Responsible for estimated, measuring, forecasting, status reporting, managing tasks, supporting transition and project closure
- Will participate in vendor selection process where applicable
- Collaborate with project stakeholder to manage scope, requirements and organizational change management required to adopt processes and technology delivered by the project
- Provide guidance and coaching to the project team
- Work with project leaders, architects and other key resources to provide solutions and resolve issues, escalating as appropriate
- Ensures deliverables and acceptance criteria are in line with long term vision of the organization and meet the objectives of the projects
Minimum Education
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent industry experience
Minimum Experience
- 5+ years of professional experience in business relationship management or comparable role
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Exceptional communication skills and the ability to communicate appropriately at all levels of the organization; this includes written and verbal communications as well as visualizations
- Ability to build strong partnerships and influence decision makers as well as process and technology adoption
- Proactively understand functional business areas and how they interact/overlap with each other
- Experience modeling business processes using a variety of tools and techniques
- Extensive experience planning and deploying both business and IT initiatives
- 5 years’ experience leading a team that has successfully delivered strategic initiatives
- Strong situational analysis and decision-making abilities
- Strong Business Acumen
- Experience in defining and maturing business capability road maps
