Purpose of Position

The Manager, IT- Custom Manufacturing Applications, oversees all Software Engineering operational activities in that domain. This includes leading custom application development of our .net, C#, Cold Fusion, Blazer, with DB2, SQL Svr DBs, and integrations into various packaged applications. Teams include both developers and testers.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Be a Servant Leader who drives business value through the strategic use of custom application development in the training management and manufacturing domains
  • Coach and lead your hybrid scrum/extreme programming teams to adopt modern dev ops and test driven development practices
  • Manages complex cross application team dependencies
  • As an application and domain owner, develop and maintain strong business partner relationships
  • Establish and manage to your annual budget while maintaining a sustainable pace for your teams
  • Act as overall delivery lead of projects, collaborate with project managers and infrastructure leaders, and own your team’s releases
  • Lead your team’s operations and break fix activities
  • Facilitate 24x7 on-call support, after-hours as needed
  • Prioritize and manage workload, issues, and risks
  • Limited travel when required

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent industry experience

Minimum Experience

  • 5+ years of experience leading Agile software engineering teams, more than one at a time for at least 2 years
  • 10+ years of experience in a Scrum/XP software development role
  • 2+ years of experience leading /managing testers
  • 5+ years of experience as a People Leader i.e., have direct reports
  • Hands experience in the use of modern programming languages and test automation frameworks

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  1. Servant Leadership (reference Management 3.0)
  2. Ability to drive transformational change in an emergent agile culture
  3. Fluent in Scrum Practices, could easily act as a scrum master and author user stories with GHERKIN with acceptance criteria
  4. Fluent in Extreme Programming practices, can coach Test Driven Development and related practices, knows to “keep the campground clean,” interested in Domain Driven Design
  5. Values lean metrics and their healthful application
  6. Understands how to leverage static and dynamic code scanning results
  7. Fluent in modern DevOps and DevSecOps practices, e.g., red/green deployments, ensure segregation of duties
  8. Drive compliance with NIST 800-171, CMMC (CUI and ITAR), and related control frameworks
  9. Tech Stacks under management: Java/J2EE, Documentum, Kafka/Camel, Sharepoint, .Net, advanced test automation frameworks, HTML, HTML5, , SQL, andothers as appropriate
  10. Strong written and verbal communications skills
