Purpose of Position

The Infrastructure Engineer proactively and holistically participates in and supports architecture/engineering activities that guide the development and management of technical and infrastructure solutions. These solutions enable the organization's future-state business capabilities and drive the organization's targeted business outcomes. Technologies include data center, infrastructure, cloud, mobile, AI, Internet of Things (IoT), blockchain, edge computing, and immersive experiences technologies. In addition, the Infrastructure Engineer creates deliverables that help develop target-state guidance (reusable standards, guidelines, individual parts, platforms, and configurations) for evolving the technical infrastructure across the enterprise to enable business strategy and deliver targeted business outcomes.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience implementing, operating and maintaining infrastructure for high volume enterprise web applications.
  • 5 years of experience in distributed system development (design and support of systems with scalability and disaster recovery robustness) to support compute use cases for business requirements.
  • 5+ years of implementation and operations experience with production systems in public cloud environments
  • Hands-on experience automating infrastructure operations and with modern best practices such as infrastructure-as-code, cross-region & multi-provider redundancy, and event correlation solutions.
  • Proficient with containerization and cluster management technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
  • Deep understanding and hands-on experience with Cloud Native deployment and monitoring tools/technology with a expertise in areas like Kubernetes, Helm charts, container based deployment, Service Mesh, Prometheus, Grafana, etc.
  • Motivated by a DevOps culture and Site Reliability Engineering concepts.

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent industry experience
  • Experience in SOX/PCI/NIST Compliance

Minimum Experience

  • 5 years of experience in operating systems (Windows, RedHat, CentOS, Amazon Linux), Nginx, Apache and software (Terraform, Bash, Sh) packages.
  • 5 years of experience integrating monitoring, alerting and reporting tools (NewRelic, Akamai, Grafana, Elasticsearch, Prometheus) with existing and newly developed systems.
  • 4 years of cloud engineering and development experience. Must have experience extending and supporting cloud based systems using Terraform.
  • 3 years of experience implementing and supporting microservices architecture using containers, with tools such as Docker, DockerSwarm and Rancher ( Kubernetes).
  • 3 years of experience working with database systems such as AWS RDS, Oracle SQL, MongoDB & Elasticsearch.
  • Design and Build CI-CD pipeline for code deployment using Azure Devops or Jenkins.
  • Experience in supporting Open Source Web and Application Services (Java, Ruby, PHP, Python, PHP wordpress)
  • Experience with bash, python, or other scripting required.
  • Experience with git fundamentals.
  • Experience with Level 1 support, monitoring of customer facing systems and participate in 24/7 on-call support activities

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Amazon or Cloud infrastructure certifications are strongly preferred
  • Proficient understanding of infrastructure and networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS)
  • Proficient understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in areas such as teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation

  • Developing knowledge of information principles and processes
  • Developed understanding of network and security architecture
  • Developed understanding and knowledge of system development life cycle methodologies (such as waterfall, spiral, agile software development, rapid prototyping, incremental, synchronize and stabilize, and DevOps)
  • Developed understanding and knowledge of IT service management (ITSM) and Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL)
  • Developed understanding and knowledge of IT standards and controls
  • Travel when required
