Purpose of Position
The Director, Safety implements and guides the safety program for FlightSafety employees and the incorporation of risk-based content into training programs for clients.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage company-wide workplace safety management system and associated programs and policies.
- Sets and manages strategy; guides the deployment of flight training programs.
- Oversee company safety groups to ensure effective execution of the safety program
- Safety project oversight to include project plan development and maintenance, deliverable tracking and budget (as applicable)
- Manage partner relationships to ensure maximum safety benefit is obtained
- Ensure effective safety promotion
- Identify opportunities for improvement in:
- Flight and maintenance training for clients and customers using industry and partner data and trends
- Environmental health and safety practices
- Company policy
- Act as the primary point of contact for safety focused training initiatives with all aircraft manufacturers and partner companies.
- Provide recommendations regarding corporate safety objectives and trend
- Prepare and manage the safety department budget
- Ensure compliance with federal, state and local law safety regulations
- Serve as the EASA Safety Manager for relevant ATOs.
- Collaborate with all departments to drive training delivery improvements, effective process and oversee implementation of best practices.
- Assess, organize, plan, and assign resources to develop and implement operating procedures.
- Suggest improvements to existing non-training related process and solutions to improve the efficiencies of FlightSafety globally.
Minimum Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Aviation or Safety Management, advanced degree preferred
Minimum Experience
- Minimum of five years of experience in a technical training, logistics, or manufacturing disciplines.
- Four (4) years’ experience in safety and operations management including root cause determination, auditing, development and implementation of corrective actions and safety performance indicators.
- Commercial or airline pilot certificate with one or more jet type rating strongly preferred
- Operational experience as a flight crewmember in a scheduled or unscheduled passenger or cargo operation preferred
- 2 years of experience as a Ground, Simulator, and/or Flight Instructor is preferred

• In depth knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership strategies, and coordination of people and resources.

• Strong ability to build lasting relationships with various levels of internal/external management and senior leadership

• FlightSafety’s billing systems/policies
• Genesis
• PMIS
• Microsoft Office Suite
