Purpose of Position

  • Applies fundamental principles, knowledge and concepts in subject matter area.
  • Generally sought after for advice in areas of massive optics and/or transparency manufacture, assembly, modification, coating and maintenance.
  • Able to perform most activities associated with job.
  • Able to train specific skills and concepts to technicians in specific areas.
  • Participates in skills training as required.
  • Assists the Production Manager as needed. the Visual Components Specialist is responsible for the adherence to established processes and internal specifications and inspection of visual components at all phases of production.
  • The position is responsible for the application of manufacturing standards per industry best practices FSI work instructions and within the framework of the Quality Management System at FlightSafety.
  • The position is responsible for assisting with and facilitating continuous improvement in all phases of production that affect visual component manufacture to ensure customer satisfaction.

Tasks and Responsibilities

Primary technical resource in supporting on-going manufacturing and development activities of visual components.

Minimum Education

High School Diploma or GED 

Minimum Experience

2 years experience in a comparable manufacturing position or in a directly related trade skill (i.e., machinist, welder, electrician, equipment mechanic, technician, etc.).  Or minimum 6 months experience as an Entry Level Visual Manufacturing Technician plus must satisfactorily demonstrate mastery of Level I job specific skills to his/her supervisor.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 70 pounds unassisted. The employee must be able to clearly see and resolve (with or without corrective lenses) small or intricate detail. The employee must have the respiratory capacity to wear a ½ mask respirator for 4 or more hours a day. The employee must be able to use both hands to hold and manipulate 7-15 pound power tools.
