Purpose of Position

Supervise High Bay test functions as assigned

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises 5-25 non-supervisory employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws: interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Generate bids, based on historical data, for projects.
  • Generate monthly man load report showing resources vs. production schedule.
  • Schedule technicians for site activity such as simulator installations, certifications, upgrades, DR clearance, and field service contracts, coordinating with other departments and site personnel to assess needs.
  • Plans, organizes, and implements necessary steps to ensure scheduled tests of simulators are completed.
  • Maintains and evaluates discrepancy reports and ensures follow up action with appropriate individuals.
  • Ensures assembly and integration of equipment cabinets and subsystems on production devices. Ensures installation of software on the production devices.
  • Reports suspected problem milestones to department manager.
  • Coordinates testing with responsible engineers and project managers.
  • Order and monitor tools and test equipment.
  • Review and approve timesheets, travel authorizations, and expense reports.
  • Review and status DR activity using FSI-SIMS database.
  • Assists in recruiting, interviewing, and selecting employees to fill vacant positions.
  • Manages personnel activities such as performance evaluation, raises, and promotions.
  • Trains and or request training of teammates to perform assigned duties. Enforces and manages compliance across the team, identifies, defines and assesses value-add opportunities in conjunction with business leaders.
  • Participate in meetings affecting and/or involving the department, such as: weekly test meeting; project coordination meetings; pre-cert DR meetings; bid meetings, etc.
  • Support FlightSafety business initiatives or objectives.

Minimum Education

Associates degree in related field

Minimum Experience

  • 2 years of related experience.Previous
  • Supervisory experience a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • PC Literate: Routinely uses Microsoft Windows based programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet Explorer to perform day-to-day tasks (timesheets, expense reports and e-mail) and to generate various reports. Able to use FlightSafety IT applications like Project Server, Keytech, AutoCAD, etc. as appropriate.
  • Conversant with using Microsoft or other operating systems for initialization, operation and troubleshooting of simulator systems and subsystems. Must have a firm grasp of the concepts involved with troubleshooting microprocessor based systems and performing system level troubleshooting utilizing software programs and utilities.

EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and fax machines.
  • Conversant with a diverse range of electronic test equipment that is needed to perform the job.
  • Conversant with basic technician tools associated with wire wrap, ESD protective equipment, basic circuit card repair, and crimping tools for wires and pins, cables and connectors.
  • Conversant with the utilization of special tools, such as utilizing computers to interface with, diagnose and/or load software into simulator equipment.
  • Experience with PC, Workstation, Laptop, Server, peripherals, common PC buss hardware, networking basics preferred.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
