Purpose of Position

The Planning Supervisor will be actively involved in the planned daily activities of the Planning department in meeting commercial and military project requirements. They will supervise and develop Planning Department personnel, including training, work assignment, performance management, and continuous improvement of planning processes and procedures.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Manage the organization’s Advanced Planning & Scheduling (APS) system, including governance of planning parameters, schedule integrity, and alignment between system outputs and operational priorities.
  • Direct and maintain the dispatching process, ensuring work orders are released, prioritized, and sequenced appropriately to support shop floor efficiency and on-time delivery.
  • Ensure planning system recommendations generated through the Planner Workbench are reviewed and optimized by the planning team, including consolidation of material requirements, alignment with supplier quantity breaks, and reduction of unnecessary purchase requisitions to improve procurement efficiency.
  • Ensure timely and accurate creation and maintenance of the Item Master, including entry of new items derived from engineering drawings and bills of material.
  • Ensure engineering Bills of Material (BOMs) are translated into complete and accurate planning data within ERP systems to support procurement, inventory control, and manufacturing execution.
  • Lead the planning team responsible for generating purchase requisitions for material requirements, ensuring procurement signals are accurate and aligned with production demand.
  • Coordinate closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Program Management to ensure material plans and production schedules support project and operational requirements.
  • Monitor planning system outputs, capacity constraints, and material availability to proactively identify risks to schedule execution and escalate issues as needed.
  • Establish and maintain planning standards, system data accuracy, and process discipline to support reliable planning outcomes and continuous improvement.
  • Drive improvements in planning processes, system utilization, and team performance to enhance schedule reliability, inventory control, and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain and update Planning Department Business Processes (BPs) and Work Instructions (WIs) to ensure consistent execution of planning activities and compliance with internal standards and audit requirements.

Minimum Education

  • Associate’s Degree in an applicable field.

Minimum Experience

  • Minimum of 6 years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience with a minimum of 4 years’ experience in a supervisory role.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Infor Cloud Suite Industrial (Syteline) or similar ERP system
  • Microsoft Office
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
