Performs global trade compliance (import and export) related activities for FlightSafety International/Simulation and Visuals to remain in full compliance with government and corporate import/export requirements while meeting business importing and exporting needs.


Collaboratively selects, evaluates, and analyzes product designs and needs using list controlled performance parameters defined in the regulations.  Communicates key performance elements impacting products warranting license controls on the various “lists” (USML, CCL, Wassenaar, etc.).  This position is not required to make Engineering analysis, but must be able to effectively communicate the controls outlined in the regulations. 


Maintains awareness of changing import and export control laws and regulations and provides analysis regarding applicability and impact to company products and technologies, as well as existing company export policies and procedures.  Creates new, and/or updates, FSS and FVS customs and regulatory policy, documentation and processes in accordance with changes.


Supports the review process and update of customs documentation, including declarations and coding (ECCN / USML / Schedule B / HTS). (Possess knowledge of when a United Nations “UN number” should be identified on import/export paperwork.).


Serves as a subject matter expert to support training and education on import/export related matters.  Provides training and guidance to FSI / FSS / FVS department members when required. 


Support and train teammates on regulations, policies and best practices.


Develops licensing strategies, export authorizations, training, and guidance based upon knowledge of the U.S. import/export regulations and implementation of FSI policies and procedures.


Supports FSI / FSS / FVS global customs and logistics requirements to ensure compliance with government and corporate import/export requirements.


Supports FSI / FSS / FVS Security requirements and Facility Security Officer (FSO) as required.


Prepares export and temporary import license and agreement applications in compliance with applicable U.S. government laws and regulations.


Ensures compliance with business processes for submitting to, and obtaining from the US government, all necessary export and import licenses, permits, and certifications.

Executes operational processes for assuring trade compliance through reviews of technical data, foreign travel, foreign visits, and import/export shipments.

Interfaces with Corporate Legal, Empowered Officials, Senior Management and others as necessary on complex legal questions pertaining to compliance with U.S. and foreign export and import laws and regulations. 

Cultivates relations with government and customs entities to encourage communication.




High School diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 6 years in a manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have the ability and desire to learn Trade Compliance laws and regulations.


US Person required


Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.


Preferred Qualifications:


Experience navigating non-U.S. export/import laws and regulations.

Experience supporting international contracts with U.S. and/or foreign military (to include classified and unclassified) requirements.

Strong working knowledge of customs requirements and logistic challenges on a global scale. 


Knowledge of global customs security programs C-TPAT, Mutual Recognition Arrangements (“MRA”), e.g., AEO, NEEC, STP, etc.


Customs Broker License.


Complete understanding of INCOTERMS and their impact on the business; able to provide guidance in their usage.


Experience in a global manufacturing environment (to include Supply Chain).


Experience working with third party global trade management software.

Advanced degree in business, international affairs, law or technology.
