Purpose of Position
Performs assignments designed to develop knowledge and abilities in all aspects of aircraft simulation software.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Reviews and becomes familiar with simulator engineering specifications, malfunction documents, flight manuals, maintenance manuals, aircraft wiring diagrams, aircraft characteristics, and aircraft data.
- Gains working knowledge of all standard navigation/visual simulation software and its interaction with other disciplines such as flight, engines, systems and autoflight software.
- Performs an analysis of the avionics functions that are to be simulated.
- Prepares Customer Test Guide under supervision of an experienced simulation engineer. This C.T.G. will be used to verify that the simulation satisfies the simulator specification requirements.
- Prepares math models, flow charts, and simulation source code as required by the aircraft simulator specification.
- Performs standardized procedures to verify that the design meets the requirements of the customer test guide.
- Presents and demonstrates the simulator operation to the customer and corrects deficiencies identified by the customer. This may include working at customer facilities.
- Develops graphical representations of aircraft avionics.
- Works with software and hardware colleagues, project engineers and others to smoothly and efficiently effect an integrated total simulation.
- Travel, shift work, and special work hours may be required to accomplish some of the above tasks.
Minimum Education
Associates Degree or Certificate in Software Engineering.
Minimum Experience
0-2 years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- FORTRAN and/or C++ required. Ada desired.
- Knowledge of operating systems such as Microsoft Windows, UNIX, Linux, and Concurrent is desired.
- Basic High Level programming skills with real time applications.
