Purpose of Position

Performs safety and health activities in plant to evaluate and implement programs to ensure compliance with OSHA, state, county, and city regulations and provide a safe work environment for employees. Accountable for the safety and health activities for the Simulation Groups.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Plans and directs safety and health activities to assure compliance with OSHA state, county, and city regulations.
  • Accountable for the Safety and Health compliance for Simulation Group.
  • Identify safety hazards, inspect, and maintain equipment as required by OSHA to ensure compliance.  Works towards solutions to correct hazards.
  • Schedules monitoring tests to ensure compliance with OSHA Standards.
  • Encourages use of safety equipment by identifying potential safety hazards, educating employees of hazards, and informing supervisors of potential problems.
  • Schedules and conducts monthly Safety Committee meetings and completes tasks determined by the committee.
  • Develop, monitor, implement and maintain safety programs necessary for compliance.
  • Coordinates distribution of respirators sets up annual training, medical clearance, and fit tests.
  • Trains employees on safety and health requirements to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Develops and performs new hire Safety Orientation. 
  • Maintains Safety Data Sheets and Master List for Safety Data Sheets online and in departmental locations. 
  • Develops and monitors emergency action plans. Coordinates facility Fire Drills
  • Investigates accidents when necessary and prepares accident reports and recommends necessary changes.
  • May conduct Job Hazard analysis to help identify potential causes for accidents and recommend changes to prevent accidents and illness.
  • Coordinates the First Responders and schedules required training. 
  • Maintains and inspects Emergency equipment to include items such as Automatic Defibulators and Emergency eye wash and Shower stations.  
  • Coordinates, monitors, and submits quarterly sampling of Industrial Waste Discharge Permitting. Maintains and submits Industrial Waste Discharge Permit application. 
  • Develops and maintains the following environmental plans: Spill and Slug Prevention Control Plan and Toxic Organic Management Plan. 
  • Coordinates, tracks and schedules hazardous and non-hazardous waste disposal as in accordance to State and Federal regulations. 
  • Seeks and suggests ways to reduce cost and keep with in a safety budget while improving FlightSafety’s Safety and Health program.  
  • Conducts and or coordinates all required training to ensure compliance with all regulations.
  • Exhibit and practice professional and courteous behavior while interacting with both internal and external customers.
  • Interact within a cooperative environment through beneficial behavior, commitment to common goals, contribution to problem solving, communication of ideas and suggestions, and encouragement to other employees and departments.
  • Accountable for the control and distribution of documents and/or equipment subject to export control restrictions and the security of FSI materials, projects and business information regarding the methods and techniques used in the production and usage of FSI products.
  • Accountable for the accuracy and completeness of assigned tasks.
  • Able to adhere to a work schedule including prompt and regular attendance.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management or eight (8) years’ of directly related experience

Minimum Experience

  • Three (3) years’ experience with a bachelor’s degree/or 11 years of directly related experience.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Microsoft Word, and Excel. PowerPoint a plus
