Purpose of Position
The Senior Program Manager is responsible for owning strategic enterprise-critical programs requiring executive assurance. This role provides leadership assurance on performance, compliance, and delivery predictability; manages multiple Program Managers; and drives execution aligned to enterprise strategy and customer commitments.
The Senior Program Manager operates with high autonomy and is accountable for program outcomes, executive-level stakeholder confidence, and sustained performance across long-duration or multi-region initiatives.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Owns delivery of strategic program objectives and outcomes aligned to enterprise strategy and customer commitments.
- Establishes governance structures, decision cadences, and escalation pathways to support predictable execution.
- Drives alignment on priorities, tradeoffs, and investment decisions across leadership stakeholders.
- Expert experience leading complex programs involving multiple cross-functional teams and interdependent deliverables
- Expert financial acumen including budget accountability, forecast decision-making, cost control strategy, and margin management, leveraging Program Controls for independent forecasting and variance analysis
- Provides executive-level delivery performance reporting, including clear accountability for outcomes, risks, and recovery actions.
- Owns and leads recovery strategies for materially challenged programs.
- Leads risk management across complex portfolios of interdependent work, including regulatory, contractual, technical, and operational risks.
- Ensures compliance posture and audit readiness across governed environments.
- Partners with finance, contracts, controls, quality, and security stakeholders to ensure disciplined execution.
- Leads and develops Program Managers and senior delivery leaders; sets expectations for execution, rigor and transparency.
- Contributes to enterprise standards, maturity improvements, and best-practice adoption across the program management community.
Minimum Education
- Education: Bachelor’s degree
- Experience in lieu of degree: 15–18+ years owning strategic, enterprise-critical programs with executive visibility, regulatory or contractual accountability, and leadership of multiple Program Managers.
- Certifications: PMP® Required
Minimum Experience
- 12–15+ years of progressively responsible experience, including ownership of strategic, enterprise-critical programs with executive visibility, regulatory or contractual accountability, and leadership of multiple Program Managers.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Expert experience leading strategic, enterprise-critical programs with significant business, customer, or operational impact, including complex stakeholder ecosystems and competing priorities
- Advanced financial leadership, including ownership of program-level financial commitments, long-range forecast decisions, and governance of performance drivers and corrective actions, leveraging Program Controls for independent analysis
- Executive influence and decision-framing capability, including negotiation, alignment, and escalation leadership across senior stakeholders and customers
- Strong compliance and governance discipline across regulated or customer-governed environments, including accountability for program adherence to established controls, audit readiness, and performance transparency
- Ability to build executive confidence through clear, decision-ready communication of program status, risks, forecast position, and recovery strategies, ensuring alignment between commitments and execution reality
- Demonstrated leadership in developing and leading Program Managers, strengthening execution discipline, forecast credibility, and adoption of enterprise standards across programs
