Purpose of Position

Provide technical analysis, recommendations and drive implementation to maximize productivity in assigned areas.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Plans sequence of fabrication, assembly, installation and other manufacturing operations for guidance of production workers.
  • Expedites operations that delay schedules and alters schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
  • Communicate the product and process related information associated with manufacturing and engineering drawings such as technical data.
  • Support production activities and determine efficient routing by utilizing manufacturing knowledge to interact with mechanics to interpret engineering drawings and tolerance requirements.
  • Make improvements in the manufacture of the products to reduce cost, improve quality and efficiency.
  • Develops solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity in the planning, scheduling and manufacturing this is based on knowledge or skills. Review and correct engineering drawings prior to planning being complete to eliminate errors before product is built.
  • Improve the product flow and the order of operations by utilizing materials and equipment capabilities.
  • Creates statistical analysis of errors and develop trends to identify areas of improvement.
  • Support the manufacturing process by taking corrective and preventative action on production delays and deviations, and support root cause analysis.
  • Reads blueprints and/or engineering specifications to obtain product information such as specified material, surface finish, dimensions, quantities, engineering notes, Bill of Material, symbols, block changes and revisions.
  • Ensure Bill of Material accuracy in support of the EOL process and Change Board.
  • Identify patterns and trends in key performance indicators to support cross functional teams designed to maximize productivity.
  • Make independent decisions based on professional and technical knowledge.
  • Knowledge of tooling and fixtures.
  • Shift work and special work hours may be required to accomplish some of the above tasks.

  • Accountable for the control and distribution of documents and/or equipment subject to export control restrictions and the security of FSI materials, projects and business information regarding the methods and techniques used in the production and usage of FSI products.

  • Able to adhere to a work schedule including prompt and regular attendance.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

Minimum Education

  • Level I (Grade 29) – Associate’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering or applicable field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to read and interpret drawings.
  • Level II (Grade 45) - Associate’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering or applicable field; and four years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to read and interpret drawings.
  • Level III (Grade 47) - Associate’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering or applicable field; and six years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to read and interpret drawings. Knowledge and expertise for this level usually results from internal progressive experience. However, selection for this position is based on the demonstrated ability of the person to successfully fulfill the requirements listed.
  • Senior (Grade 49) - Associate’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering or applicable field; and 12 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to read and interpret drawings. Knowledge and expertise for this level usually results from internal progressive experience. However, selection for this position is based on the demonstrated ability of the person to successfully fulfill the requirements listed.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • CAD, Microsoft Office – PowerPoint, Word and Excel (advanced)
  • Six Sigma Greenbelt preferred
  • Syteline and Keytech preferred
  • Standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and fax machines. Familiar with computer automated and controlled equipment
  • Fluency in English, through both verbal and written communications; Able to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; Able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and customers.
  • Able to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry; Able to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Valid Driver’s License, where applicable.
