Purpose of Position

The Technician Field Service plans and coordinates in-house and customer-based field installation and integration of flight simulation PC Windows-based real-time computing image generation, fixed matrix type projection and optical display systems at customer’s facility ensuring system functionality through execution of documented test procedures that meet program specifications

 

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Read, understand, and interpret block diagrams, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, customer and regulatory specifications.
  • Use basic electronic test equipment and analog/digital technology necessary for analysis of problem(s) and determination of root cause(s) 
  • Document and track issues identified in fulfillment of job duties through appropriate reporting channel following up and coordinating problem resolution.
  • Develop, understand, and execute detailed written customer and/or program specific test procedures.
  • Provide effective written communication to supervision providing status of activities, trip reports, and other technical reports.
  • Provide an effective communication link between our customer and the company to help ensure a high level of service.
  • Conduct on-the-job training (OJT) regarding the safe operation and maintenance of our visual system demonstrating appropriate skills to team members and customers.
  • Accountable for the control and distribution of documents and/or equipment subject to export control restrictions and the security of FSI materials.
  • Extensive travel required.

Minimum Education

Associates degree (A.S.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school in Computer Science, Computer networking and technology, or Electrical Engineering Technology and one year related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Knowledge and Skills

SOFTWARE

Formal Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician or CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Server+ certifications and UNIX familiarity are preferred.

EQUIPMENT

An additional requirement is having real-world experience including demonstrable successes delivering high levels of customer satisfaction in both installation and technical troubleshooting scenarios for high-technology products.

LANGUAGE

Fluency in English, through both verbal and written communications; Able to read and interpret documents: Able to write routine reports and correspondence:  Able to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL

Able to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; Able to apply concepts of basic algebra.

REASONING

Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
