Purpose of Position
Coordinate activities with transportation, customers, and related companies, which includes determining lead and lag times, scheduling pick-ups and deliveries, confirming shipping, and calculating and verifying charges; transportation is both domestic and international.
Tasks and Responsibilities
May need some guidance on job duties; applies learning to recommend options to address unusual situations- Reviews and/or completes documents, forms and materials to initiate or complete the shipping/transportation process.- Coordinates and processes shipments.- Prepares and maintains information and documentary records.- Works with service vendors to resolve invoice and document errors.- Ensures compliance with DOT, hazardous materials, HSE, and other regulations. - Assist with training and reviewing the work of others involved in the shipping process.- Responds to inquiries and concerns from customers and identifies a solution.- Ability to communicate effectively across all levels within an organization.- Develop and maintain working relationships with vendors.- Track shipments from pickup through delivery so that accurate, up-to-date information can be provided regarding any shipment.
Minimum Education
High School DiplomaAssociates degree a plus
Minimum Experience
+ three years related experience
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:Able to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; Able to apply concepts of basic algebra.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES OR REGISTRATIONS:Valid Driverâs License, where applicable.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to sit and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
