Purpose of Position:
The Senior Technician provides advanced technical skills in support of Simulator Operations, and applieshardware and software expertise to maintain, modify, and/or repair Flight Training Devices.

 

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • The Senior Technician performs without assistance; is recognized as a resource to others; provides trainingand guidance to simulator technicians; focuses on complex issues. Has a familiarity with and ability torepair FSI simulators across all computer, motion and subsystem platforms.
  • Perform standard Simulator support activities.
  • Perform configuration changes to Simulators and FTDs, evaluate and confirm proper post- changeoperation.
    Identify, troubleshoot, repair or replace most of the Simulator and FTD electrical and sub systemcomponents and most hydraulic system components with little to no assistance.
  • Exercise judgment and independence in determining solutions to maintenance and repair problems.
  • Able to accomplish basic tasks associated with the Qualification Test Guide (QTG).
  • Read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Use test equipment, support equipment and tools used on flight simulators, graphical flight simulators(GFSs) and associated electronics devices.
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of the advanced operating principles of simulator and FTD subsystems.
  • Monitor Simulator(s) performance and condition to ensure compliance with governmental regulations.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with governing regulations for the proper operation of all FTDs, the facility, and thesafe employment of personnel.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of all Simulator Support, Quality Operating Procedures (QOPs), and relateddocumentation.
  • Make recommendations concerning needed parts, acquisitions, or other material used for FTD repair andsupport.
  • Report any safety hazards observed in work area, equipment, and/or building as per company SafetyManagement System (SMS) directive.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with Learning Center daily department operations and applicable procedures.

 

Minimum Education:

  • Associates degree in electronics from a college or completion of a civilian/military electronics technicalschool preferred.

 

Minimum Experience:

  • Five years’ experience, including electronics technology, avionics or related civilian/military technology; orequivalent direct support of full flight simulators and/or FTDs.
