Purpose of Position
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for: • Day-to-day maintenance of T-1A and T-38 aircrew training devices (ATDs), Provides support for T-1A and T-38 ATDs within FlightSafety Service Corp. sites, and • Planning, organizing, and controlling maintenance activities for T-1A/T-38 ATDs and operations. • Reports to T-38 Program Manager providing regular feedback on training devices status and performances
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Directs, plans, controls, and/or coordinates maintenance activities of the T-1A/T-38 ATDs.
- Directs, plans, controls, and/or coordinates depot level support for T-1A/T-38 ATDs at all Undergraduate Flying Training (UFT) sites.
- Determines, selects, and assigns maintenance personnel to tasks. Advises UFT site managers on personnel issues.
- Schedules personnel, workloads, and other functions of maintenance staff.
- Ensures required equipment, inspections, calibration, modifications and supply procedures are accomplished in accordance with procedures.
- Focal point for developing and implementing maintenance policy and procedures including performance standards for inspection and maintenance activities at all T-1A and T-38 sites.
- Advises UFT sites on maintenance of ATDs to include publishing Maintenance Bulletins.
- Plans and implements project development work as required.
- Provides support to the Quality Assurance function for training device activities.
- Plans and controls maintenance training and supply discipline.
- Manages the Logistics Support Center (LSC) at Randolph.
- Applies program configuration and supply management principles.
- Ensures compliance with established Company Policy, procedures, and safety practices.
- Evaluates requirements for, and implements modifications to, training devices as directed by the Modification and Update Support Systems (MUSS), TSSC, or Corporate Headquarters.
- Coordinates with all T-1A/T-38 ATD maintenance sites as necessary in the performance of job requirements.
- Manages assigned projects as required.
- Travels as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education
- High School diploma or equivalent and completion of a civilian or military basic electronic course.
Minimum Experience
- Three years of experience as a flight simulator technician or equivalent is required, with demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex non-routine problems.
- Experience should include component level test and repair of microprocessor-controlled equipment.
- One year maintenance management experience desired.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Ability to fluently read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Ability to speak to various size groups as required.
- Demonstrated management and technical supervisory skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of Aircrew Training Devices.
- Working knowledge of logistics/inventory/CLS database systems.
- Familiar with aircraft forms and USAF tracking procedures.
- Ability to successfully pass a National Agency Check (NAC) by the U.S. Government.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the teammate is regularly required to talk or hear; to sit, stand, and walk; and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls. The teammate is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and to stoop and kneel. The teammate must be able to ingress/egress from the simulator, work in inclement weather and temperature extremes as set forth in Air Force and company guidelines. The teammate must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The teammate must have close and distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
