Purpose of Position
The Ground Systems Instructor (GSI) is responsible for accomplishing ground-based academic training of specific non-flying training objectives for U.S. Air Force and Allied Nation C-17 Pilot and Loadmaster students as well as handling other training related duties currently accomplished by Instructor Pilots and Loadmasters.
The GSI will instruct pilot students in the classroom, Cockpit Systems Simulator (CSS), Core Integrated Processor (CIP) Trainer, Single Point Refueling Trainer (SPR) and at the aircraft designated for static training. The GSI will instruct pilot and loadmaster students using the Visual Threat Recognition and Avoidance Trainer (VTRAT) and in the Night Vision Goggles (NVG) Classroom. The GSI will document training performance of students using the Training Management System (TMS).
Tasks and Responsibilities
The following duties are essential to the successful and satisfactory performance of this job. Other duties may be assigned.
• Currently possess, or demonstrate the ability to obtain, a SECRET clearance.
Minimum Education
• Minimum of an Associates degree required.
• Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) associate degree is highly desired.
Minimum Experience
• Must have extensive aviation aircrew or aviation-related instructor experience commensurate with required training topics (aircraft systems).
• Relevant coursework/certification completion necessary for additives including in job title.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
• Familiarity with the Instructional Systems Design (ISD) process is desired.
• Courseware development experience is highly desirable.
• C-17 experience as a Crewmember is highly desirable.
• USAF certified NVG Instructor experience is highly desirable.
• Loadmasters with at least 10-years of military experience in the associated position(s) are highly desired.
