The Role:

The Geo-Spatial Artist is responsible for developing and improving 3D environments and textures to be used in real-time visual systems. This includes imagery and texture assets. Has an understanding of 3D modeling and texture processes. Works well in a team environment or individually.

In this role you will:

  • Have an Associate’s degree in an art related profession with three years’ experience or a Bachelor’s degree in art/animation and two years’ experience.
  • Utilizes maps, photography, satellite imagery and digital mapping data to create realistic scenes for use in flight simulators.
  • Utilizes standard checklists, work instructions, and project configuration documents to ensure consistent quality of geospatial products and associated textures. 
  • Have a solid understanding of hard-surface modeling. 
  • Exercise good judgement regarding data quality and project criteria to be able to recognize and identify anomalies associated with digital imagery. 
  • Be able to work under pressure to deliver a high volume of products to meet customer requirements. 
  • Correctly interpret build requirements and provide input into documentation such as Visual Database Design Documents (VDBDD).
  • Utilize modeling platforms which include FlightSafety specific tools in conjunction with third party software.
  • Operate real-time systems to check work.
  • Understand project scopes and budgets, and can provide reasonable estimates for work to be accomplished.

 

A Strong Candidate will Have:

  • Knowledge of PhotoShop, ArcGIS, Erdas, and Global Mapper.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Windows.
  • Experience with Unix is a plus.
  • Experience with Perforce is a plus
