Position Purpose:

The Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist is responsible for managing the KC-46 Quality Assurance program in accordance with the KC-46 Aircrew Training System (ATS) contract, FlightSafety’s Quality Assurance Program Plan, and other applicable program plans. 


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Manages the KC-46 ATS QA program, using the FlightSafety Quality Manual and appropriate FlightSafety plans and procedures.
  • Conducts internal QA audits at the KC-46 ATS training sites, including functions of the KC-46 Training System Support Center (TSSC).
  • Conducts internal QA audits at the Corporate office, as required.
  • Ensures recurring audits and any special QA inspections are conducted, as required, by the KC-46 ATS contract, or as requested by Senior Management.
  • Develops and/or reviews quality standards and requirements for the various functions of the KC-46 ATS, e.g., engineering, logistics, aircrew training device maintenance, instruction, system development, and program management.
  • Develops product assurance indicators to measure the quality of the KC-46 ATS program elements, e.g., training devices, software, courseware, instructional delivery, aircrew training device maintenance, technical documentation, etc.
  • Maintains the QA master files and the master deficiency report database, including managing the deficiency report and corrective action process.
  • Manages the preventive action process within the KC-46 ATS.
  • Reviews and coordinates on training system change orders, including engineering prototypes, technical manuals, engineering drawings, and other pertinent technical documentation, change proposals, etc.
  • Conducts follow-up inspections of the corrective actions taken to resolve deficiencies noted by deficiency reports.
  • Reports non-conforming practices and products to the Corporate QA Manager, KC-46 ATS Program Manager, and other managers, as appropriate.
  • Ensures courseware maintenance at the TSSC meets the contract standards, specifications, and program plans, or applicable program standards.
  • Reports the status of the product assurance indicators by compiling and producing the Quality Assurance Report (QAR).
  • Identifies adverse trends affecting quality by reviewing and analyzing the data reported and collected on the product assurance indicators.
  • Assists in the conduct of courseware tryouts to evaluate courseware and to prepare reports of tryout results for courseware readiness reviews or boards.
  • Provides QA training and guidance.
  • Coordinates with the Air Force Contracting Officer Representative on matters relating to quality, including administrative handling of corrective action requests issued by the Air Force, and conducts follow-up inspections on corrective actions to the deficiencies noted by corrective action requests.
  • Prepares the Training Report, End-of-Month Report, and Certificate and Performance for the KC-46 TSSM on a monthly basis.
  • Generates CDRLs explaining contract performance on a monthly basis. Reviews and assists in generating other CDRLs, as required.


Knowledge, Skill, and Ability:

  • Morally and ethically influence others to successfully achieve program goals.
  • Fluently read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Display excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Possess the ability to obtain and maintain ISO 9001 or AS 9100 Auditor certification.
  • Possess a working knowledge of software applications, Microsoft Office products, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Possess a basic knowledge of Department of Defense and military standards relating to the acquisition and/or development or modification of training devices and the contractor logistics support of training systems.
  • Possess a basic knowledge of ISO 9000 series standards and applications.
  • Possess a basic knowledge of the Air Force contracting and quality systems.
  • Currently possess, or demonstrate the ability to obtain, a SECRET clearance.


Education and Formal Training:

Bachelor’s Degree in quality management, business administration or other related field or equivalent combination of education and training.  An advanced degree in quality management, business administration, or related fields is desired.   



Five years of experience in QA; or program/project management and participation experience in activities related to aircrew training and aircrew training devices.  Familiarity with AS 9100 standards is highly desirable.
