Purpose of Position

The Supervisor, Procurement Operations oversees the daily transactional activities of the purchasing function and supports the development and execution of standard operating procedures and policies governing procurement and purchasing tasks to drive operational efficiency, financial controls, quality and cost management.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of buyers supporting the purchasing process for acquisition of a wide variety of technical and non- technical good and services.
  • Oversee requirements generation, source evaluation and selection, cost and price analysis and purchase order execution and close-out.
  • Establish/evaluate/manage vendor qualification and performance criteria.
  • Support category leaders with sourcing and contracting activities as needed.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains standards, systems and procedures for purchasing and procurement transactions to ensure compliance with corporate financial and operational controls and any related government or regulatory requirements. 
  • Update purchasing strategies and processes based on changes in technology and market conditions and support communication and training for business stakeholders to ensure process consistency and compliance.
  • Manage daily, weekly and monthly operational reporting to track activity metrics, spend, price trends, savings opportunities, supplier performance and other metrics related to procurement activities.
  • Manage relationships with internal stakeholders to deliver a high level of customer satisfaction while driving compliance to enterprise policies.

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Business, Finance, or a related field

Minimum Experience

  • 3-5 years experience
  • Previous supervisory/team leadership experience strongly preferred 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • High degree of financial and problem-solving ability
  • Understanding of purchasing and procurement processes and systems
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to act without guidance within established policies and procedures as an official agent of the company
  • Excellent computer skills including, MS Office suite.
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Data management and analytical skills and experience creating management reporting and dashboards
  • Ability to interact with various levels of management in a professional manner
  • Experience managing teams in both an on-site and remote/virtual environment
